Gateway Monthly Update: Gearing Up for the Future of Data Ownership
Gateway April Updates

Hey there, data enthusiasts!

We've been cooking up some exciting stuff here at Gateway, and we can't wait to share it with you! But before we dive into the juicy details, let's talk about why we're here in the first place. At Gateway, we believe that your data is your superpower. It's time to take control and unlock its full potential! That's why we've been working hard to create a platform that puts you in the driver's seat when it comes to your personal information.

Protocol Updates

Alright, let's talk about the juicy stuff - protocol updates!

Our team has been working hard to get our first testnet up and running, and we're focusing on making sure our storage nodes (we call them Encrypted Data Vaults or EDVs) are top-notch.

Here's what you need to know about EDVs:

  • EDVs are designed to keep your data safe, secure, and private.
  • They ensure fast upload and retrieval times, data redundancy, and full data privacy through encryption and sharding with erasure coding. Only the owner or authorized parties can access the contents.
  • EDVs are crucial for maintaining the security and privacy of user data while ensuring its availability and accessibility.

We're also implementing proxy re-encryption (PRE) to facilitate data sharing:

  • PRE allows data access to be granted to others quickly and securely.
  • It enables users to grant access to others without decrypting the data again, saving space. Neither Gateway nor the EDVs will have access to the raw data.
  • PRE is essential for enabling seamless and secure data sharing while maintaining user control and privacy.

We're putting together some easy-to-follow guides that will walk you through how to join Gateway's network and run your own storage node. If that sounds like something you're interested in, join our Discord for more details.

But that's not all - we're also building a mobile app to make using Gateway even easier and more convenient:

Gateway Mobile App

  • The mobile app will make interaction with the protocol simpler, intuitive, and portable.
  • Users will receive notifications for data received and access requests, have full control over their private data, and be able to back up their identity securely through iCloud or Google Drive.
  • The mobile app is crucial for providing a user-friendly experience and empowering users with control over their data and identity.

We're making some improvements to our GraphQL API:

  • The GraphQL API experience is being enhanced to align with Gateway's vision of data ownership and control for the end user.
  • The documentation for the next version of the API will be revamped to make the development experience easier than ever.
  • These improvements are essential for ensuring that the API aligns with Gateway's core principles and provides a smooth development experience.

As you can tell, it's been a busy month.

Documentation Updates

First up, we've given our docs a full makeover! Head over to https://docs.mygateway.xyz/introduction and explore the new and improved experience. Don't worry if you're not a tech wizard; we've added an "Explain Like I'm 5" section to make things super easy to understand.

In addition to the Core Concepts portion, we've upgraded our SDK/API documentation to streamline the integration process for developers building on Gateway. We want to make your development journey as smooth as possible.

Alongside the documentation, we've launched Gateway Blogs, where we'll be sharing insights, wisdom, and developer tutorials related to Gateway Protocol. Several blogs are already live, guiding you to start developing on Gateway within minutes. Check them out at https://mygateway.xyz/blog.

Partnership Updates

Now, let's talk partnerships. Gateway is rapidly expanding its cohort of teams that will be participating in our upcoming testnet launch. We are excited to officially announce a few teams that have joined our Private DevNet including Atoman, Heurist, and Plume.

Gateway Partners

Atoma Network is building the next-generation decentralized AI inference network:

  • Atoma aims to empower Web3 applications, governments, and enterprises with a layer of verifiable AI inference.
  • By creating a new paradigm of governance, trust, and democratization in the AI community, Atoma enables the development of open, inclusive, and permissionless AI applications.
  • Atoma's partnership with Gateway will enable users to seamlessly share inference data across applications while maintaining full control over their personal information, building trust and functionality for their users.

Heurist is a layer 2 network for AI model hosting and inference:

  • Heurist positions itself as the HuggingFace of Web3, aggregating compute resources from individual GPU owners and allowing ecosystem developers to build AI apps with API access to open-source AI models.
  • By integrating Gateway's privacy-first infrastructure, Heurist empowers creators to monetize their work, manage copyright, and showcase their art in a metaverse gallery.

Plume Network is the leading and dedicated L2 for all things RWA:

  • Plume Network is using Gateway to bridge off-chain financial data into their ecosystem.
  • By leveraging Gateway as the storage and access control layer, Plume creates a secure way for users to share sensitive info like KYC data and credit scores while maintaining total control over who can access their data.

Gateway's array of teams committed to begin building on its TestNet also include projects across DePin, Consumer apps, L1s/L2s, FinTech, and more.

Gateway is working to have its official testnet launch in July. The date and details will be revealed in late June but be on the lookout for ways you can participate and take control of your data.

We are excited to Announce…

We're gearing up for the launch of Gateway Testnet in July, and we want you to be a part of it.

In June, we'll be diving deep into Gateway L1 and showing you why it's the key to a future where you're the master of your own data destiny. And keep your eyes peeled for a sneak peek of the Gateway wallet.

As always, we couldn't do this without you. Your support and belief in our mission mean the world to us, and we're so excited to continue this journey together. Stay tuned for more updates, and let's show the world what data freedom really means!
