Gateway Monthly Update: Accelerating Towards a Data-Sovereign Future

Gateway Monthly Update: Accelerating Towards a Data-Sovereign Future
June Updates

It's time for another exciting update from the Gateway team. We've been working tirelessly to bring you closer to a world where you have full control over your digital identity and data. Let's dive into what we've been up to this month!

Gateway Network Stats

We're delighted to share some impressive growth numbers:

Protocol Metrics
  • Transactions: +1,531,491 (86% growth MoM)
  • Users: +117,993 (70.64% growth MoM)
  • Files: +975,360 (78.46% growth MoM)

These figures showcase the increasing adoption and trust in Gateway's vision of data sovereignty.

Technical Updates

Our team is making great strides in developing the Gateway Protocol:

  1. Decentralized Storage: We're running distributed nodes across the globe to ensure network reliability and reduce latency.
    • The data is shared across different nodes using a technology called erasure coding. This technology enables the reconstruction of the original piece of data even when some pieces are missing (if a node goes down).
    • Gateway’s nodes are deployed in every continent with multiple machines to ensure the lowest possible latency and high geographical location for our users.
    • Privately share data with other users and manage permissions
  2. API and SDK: We’re working on integrating storage nodes with the protocol’s API and SDK.
    • This update is crucial for builders, enabling them to leverage our decentralized, privacy-focused storage solution in their applications in a familiar way.
    • The Typescript SDK is meant to compliment the API experience by extending and facilitating the integration with the protocol in full-stack applications.
    • It opens up new possibilities for developing secure, scalable applications and prioritizing user data privacy.
    • By integrating with our protocol, developers can offer enhanced data protection to their users without the need to build complex cryptographic systems from scratch.
  3. Enhanced Security: We're implementing quantum-resistant cryptography for data encryption both in transit and at rest. This ensures that no single party can tamper with or access user information.
  4. Coordination Layer: We're focused on creating and testing the Gateway chain, our purpose-built blockchain for private data storage and management. This layer will provide a robust audit trail for all data operations.
    • Key features under development include decentralized identity management for secure user authentication and smart contract functionality for automated data access control.
    • We're working on integrations with multiple signing ciphers, including Ethereum (secp256k1), Solana (ed25519), and Sui (BLS). This will allow users to interact with the protocol using their existing wallets from these ecosystems, enhancing interoperability and user experience.

Research Updates

We're conducting research on private data computation, with a focus on Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), a game-changing technology for data privacy and security:

  • FHE enables computation on encrypted data while maintaining complete data privacy.
  • It allows for complex computations and analytics to be performed on sensitive data without ever decrypting it, opening up new possibilities in fields like healthcare, finance, and AI, where data privacy is crucial.
  • We're collaborating with industry leaders to explore FHE-based computation implementation on our network.
  • This technology opens up exciting possibilities for data utilization without compromising security.

Developer Resources Updates

We've made significant improvements to our documentation:

  • Added new sections covering Gateway's features in depth.
  • Enhanced our API reference with detailed descriptions, examples, and error-handling guidelines.
  • Improved the quickstart guide with code snippets for creating data models.
  • Restructured the developer flow and FAQs for better clarity.

Product Updates

Exciting developments on the product front:

  1. Mobile App (Private Beta):
    • Receive notifications for data requests
    • Securely upload data to Gateway's network
    • Privately share data with other users and manage permissions
  2. Web Dashboard: In development to complement and extend the mobile app's functionality.

Both applications will be released following our upcoming testnet launch.

Partnership Updates

Those of you who have been following our account on X. We have made some partnership announcements ahead of our testnet release next month. Check out these spaces we recorded with LI.FI, Atoma Network, and Heurist AI in regards to our integrations.

Gateway is stopping there though! In the coming weeks expect to see announcements around projects building with Gateway including credential networks, reputation platforms, decentralized AI networks, and other consumer applications.

Here is a quote from a team that is building within the decentralized AI space, to enable users to directly interact with AI agents and control data consumption. "This fills in so much of our stack. It's amazing that we don't have to recreate all of this work, and we could just integrate it. Gateway enables our users to have control over our data and to facilitate the user’s ownership of their IP, which is critical for us. This is key for building out our products and services in a way that allows people to actually do stuff, making the consumer applications we're developing not just functional but empowering."

What's Next?

As we approach our testnet launch, we're working closely with node operators to ensure a robust and available network from day one. Stay tuned for more information on how you can get involved in running a storage node.

We're grateful for your continued support and enthusiasm. Together, we're building a future where data privacy and control are in the hands of the users. Keep an eye out for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of data sovereignty!

Expect to see our updated vision paper dropping the week of July 8th. Followed up by a major announcement the week of July 15th that will change the course of the Gateway to a user-owned web forever!
