The Future of Digital Identity is Here, and It's Encrypted

Today Camp Network has established itself as the World's First Interoperable Social Data Layer, aggregating valuable user data from popular Web2 platforms. By enabling users to own and monetize their digital identities, Camp is solving one of the most pressing challenges in the Web3 space: the lack of rich, user-centric data necessary for creating engaging experiences and achieving product-market fit.

Enter the Gateway!

Gateway is the decentralized private computer. Gateway’s protocol is focusing on enabling encrypted data storage via its Encrypted Data Vaults. Information is encrypted, sharded across nodes, and user’s are given full control over their data. Gateway’s real unlock lies in its private compute, powered by the GatewayVM, which makes it possible for applications, networks, and more to utilize private data without ever revealing underlying information.

State of the Integration Today:

As part of this partnership, Camp will leverage Gateway's state-of-the-art Encrypted Data Vaults to store user data. This integration ensures that the valuable identity information aggregated by Camp is protected by the most advanced encryption technologies available and association is established via Gateway’s DID system. Most importantly, Gateway’s encryption practices puts users in control of their social data. Enabling them to control who can access their information, how long, as well as revocation.

But this is just the beginning. Our partnership paves the way for a future where Camp can utilize Gateway's revolutionary encrypted compute capabilities. Co-founder of Camp, Nirav Murthy, talked about how the team extensively researched the opportunities around encrypted-compute. Exploring ZK, TEEs, and even FHE for their use-cases. However after learning about Gateway’s Virtual Machine using Garbeled circuits Camp was excited about the use-cases given the programmability, scalability, and security of the system. This next phase will enable:

1. Privacy-Preserving Analytics: Web3 protocols will be able to gain insights from user data without accessing the raw information, maintaining user privacy while driving innovation.
2. Personalized Experiences: Developers can create tailored user experiences based on rich data sets, all while ensuring that individual user data remains encrypted and secure.
3. Data Monetization 2.0: Users will have even more granular control over how their data is used, with the ability to permit specific computations without exposing their raw data.
